Twenty-five athletes received their respective checks for PHP 12,000 representing their allowance for six months from Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr.
They are among the 49 recipients of the Iloilo Provincial Government's sports educational assistance program under Provincial Ordinance 2019-199.
The recipients are entitled to financial assistance of PHP 24,000 per year which includes a PHP 2,000 allowance per month, a uniform allowance of PHP 2,000 and a school supplies allowance of PHP 2,000.
It was learned that the other recipients are already in Bacolod City to compete in the 2024 West Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet.
The Iloilo Provincial Government's sports educational assistance program is being supervised by the Iloilo Sports Development and Management Office (ISDMO) headed by Dr. Janelyn Fundal.
