ILOILO BACKS SOCIAL JUSTICE AGENDA WITH DATA DRIVEN GOVERNANCE AT NATIONAL STATISTICS MONTH CULMINATION

The Iloilo Provincial Government reaffirmed its commitment to social justice and inclusive development during the culmination program of the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) hosted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) at the National Museum Western Visayas.

With the theme “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation,” the event highlighted the importance of modernizing data systems to inform policy decisions.

Representing Governor Arthur “Toto” Defensor, Jr., Provincial Administrator Raul Banias emphasized how Iloilo’s development vision, MoRProGRes, and the governor’s Social Justice Agenda are both grounded in data-driven governance.

Governor Defensor’s Social Justice Agenda targets inequalities across four critical areas, namely economic poverty, educational gaps, malnutrition, and access to safe drinking water.

“These social inequities demand our immediate attention, and we prioritize them because we have the data to support our initiatives,” added Dr. Banias.

He also praised the efforts of the BSP and the Philippine Statistics Authority in providing critical data that helps shape local policies.

“They have consistently influenced policy decisions through their dedication to data-driven insights. From socio-economic indicators to poverty statistics, their work is invaluable,” said Dr. Banias.
