Two Manila-based firms have offered to provide free public Wi-Fi in the province of Iloilo, including the Iloilo Provincial Capitol and other facilities owned by the provincial government.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. signed a Deed of Donation with Craft Shack, Inc. and Artbi Global Philippine Corporation relative to the donation of infrastructure, including the necessary routers, devices, and equipment, to make possible the provision of free public Wi-Fi to the province of Iloilo, and other public areas owned, leased or controlled by the Iloilo provincial government.
Craft Shack Inc. was represented by Mr. Charles Leighton Chianpian and Artbi Global Philippine Corporation was represented by Jibeom Ku.
The ceremony was witnessed by Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, Maribeth Daquilanea of the Information Communication Technology Management Office (ICTMO), Board Members Rolando Distura and Domingo Oso, and several municipal mayors whose towns are also seen to benefit from the free internet service.
The free internet service covers the vicinity of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, municipal halls, barangay halls, and other public areas at no cost to the province.
Following the signing of the DOD, the ICTMO will identify feasible areas for the installation of routers and other equipment.
The DOD will remain in effect for three years and is renewable for another three years.
