WV COAST GUARD CHIEF PAYS COURTESY VISIT ON GOV TOTO

Commodore Ludovico Librilla Jr. of the Philippine Coast Guard District Western Visayas paid a courtesy visit on Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., signaling closer coordination between the Coast Guard and the Iloilo Provincial Government on coastal security concerns.

Commo. Librilla was accompanied by Iloilo Coast Guard Station Commander Jan J Terrazona during the meeting at the Provincial Capitol.

The courtesy call provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss shared priorities, including the strengthening of coastal intelligence to prevent the entry of illegal drugs, enhanced support for Bantay Dagat units, and the need for additional operational assets such as rescue boats to improve maritime patrol and response capabilities.

Governor Defensor emphasized the importance of strengthening intelligence efforts at the municipal level, noting that local governments play a critical role in safeguarding Iloilo’s extensive coastline.

He also shared that the province is studying ways to further maximize Bantay Dagat units, including their possible use in anti-illegal drug patrols, in coordination with national agencies.
