Strengthening peace and security across Western Visayas took center stage during the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) VI meeting on Tuesday, where government agencies reviewed the region's security landscape and reinforced coordinated efforts against emerging threats and illegal drugs.
Presided over by Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., the council's meeting brought together key national government agencies to present updates on national security concerns.
Among the highlights were the Inter-Agency Territorial Defense Operations Exercise (ITDOEX) presented by the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, the regional peace and order situation report by Police Regional Office 6, and the latest illegal drug situation briefing from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The discussions underscored the importance of sustained inter-agency collaboration in addressing security challenges, maintaining public safety, and ensuring peace and order throughout the region.
Also taken up during the meeting were the Municipality of Maasin's development plan for the proposed construction of its municipal police and fire stations, as well as the presentation of the Peace and Order Council Audit Results by the Department of Interior and Local Government.
