Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor stressed that the problem of power outage “is a matter of national emergency” and should be addressed in the most practical terms.

“We are very concerned because power is one of the fundamentals that the government should deliver to our constituents,” Defensor said.

The governor joined the Panay Energy Stakeholders’ Meeting organized by the Iloilo City Government on March 7, 2024, at the Iloilo City Hall Penthouse.

In attendance are representatives from the Department of Energy, Energy Regulatory Commission, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, Independent Energy Market Operator of the Philippines, power generation companies, distribution utilities, concerned national government agencies, local government units, and the business sector.
