DEFENSOR TAPS TESDA TO TRAIN ILOILO WORKFORCE FOR DRONE INDUSTRY

The provincial government is partnering with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to prepare its local workforce as it positions Iloilo as a strategic hub for drone development.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. met with TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez on Tuesday to seek technical and financial support in enhancing the skills of the province’s  workforce for this emerging industry.

Governor Defensor requested Secretary Benitez for TESDA’s support in establishing and enhancing programs focused on drone technology and 3D printing operations.

The governor recognized that drone proficiency is a vital tool for modernizing the delivery of public service in the province of Iloilo.

“We have identified skills development, particularly in drone technology and application, as a platform to equip our people with future-ready competencies.

These skills hold significant potential across various sectors including agriculture, fisheries, disaster risk reduction and management, environmental protection, and other areas of public service,” he said.

This initiative is also part of the Iloilo provincial government’s thrust to generate employment opportunities and upgrade the skills of its workers to meet with global labor demands.
