SANTA BARBARA GETS FAMILY YOUTH CENTER UPGRADED TEEN CENTER

The municipality of Santa Barbara is a recipient of two major infrastructure projects of the province of Iloilo under the Provincial Population Office – the Family and Youth Development Center and the Teen Center 2.0 Infrastructure Project.

The Family and Youth Development Center is situated along the Municipal Plaza while the teen center building is being constructed at Santa Barbara National Comprehensive High School.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the groundbreaking ceremony of these projects today with Mayor Dennis Superficial; second district Board Members June Mondejar and Rolito Cajilig; Ex-Officio Member Ramon Sullano; Provincial Population Office chief Atty. Ruel Von Superio; Provincial Engineer Romeo Andig; Anilao Mayor Lee Ann Debuque who represented the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP-Iloilo); SBNCHS Principal IV Dr. Jose Rolando Rafael Cabanig; and representatives from the Department of Education (DepEd Iloilo); among others.

Dr. Cabanig expressed his gratitude to Governor Defensor for prioritizing their school and for providing a facility for the development of their 5,070 learners.

“This is what we need. And this is what our learners need. This will help change the lives of the learners and the people of Santa Barbara,” Dr. Cabanig said.

The 2-storey Family and Youth Development Center will serve as a venue for the conduct of pre-marriage orientation and counseling sessions; training site for youth and youth-related programs; and venue for population and development programs and activities.

The Teen Center 2.0 Project is a leveled-up facility which will serve as a home for youth recreational programs as well as personality development and skills enhancement activities.

“These centers will be sanctuaries of learning, growth and development, where young minds will be inspired, families will be strengthened, and the entire community is united towards a brighter future,” Atty. Superio said.

Governor Defensor said these infrastructure projects aim to address the psychosocial needs and overall development of the youth.

“We are not only interested in your learnings in the four corners of the classroom. We are also interested in your psychosocial well-being,” Defensor said.

The governor said the provincial government is also being aggressive in the construction and repair of classrooms as an infrastructure support to public schools under his education reform program Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya (BES Probins) Program.
