To promote gender sensitivity and awareness, the Iloilo Provincial Government’s Gender and Development (GAD) Unit recently conducted a Gender Sensitivity Training series for district hospital employees and provincial government staff.
Held at Citadines Amigo Hotel in Iloilo City on October 30-31, 2024, the sessions gathered employees to deepen their understanding of gender roles, concepts, and issues in the workplace.
The October 30 session targeted Iloilo Provincial Government employees, equipping them with essential knowledge to recognize and address gender-related issues within their departments.
The training covered core GAD concepts and encouraged participants to understand the importance of inclusive and gender-sensitive work environments.
On October 31, district hospital employees attended a similar workshop aimed at enhancing gender sensitivity within healthcare settings.
Facilitated by PGAD Technical Working Group members, the training delved into basic GAD principles and the complex nature of gender roles and stereotypes.
PGAD Focal Mariel Loredo guided participants through an overview of Gender and Development, sparking discussions on how hospital staff can contribute to a more equitable and respectful healthcare experience for all patients and employees.
By empowering employees with the tools and understanding to recognize and address gender issues, the provincial government is laying the groundwork for a more respectful and responsive workplace that aligns with broader developmental goals.
