
The Iloilo Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO) conducted a coordination meeting to discuss a collaborative initiative between PGENRO and Central Philippine University (CPU).
Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center director Sarex Dalida Dipol, Jr., Department of Life Sciences chairperson Cherrylyn M. Macairan paid a courtesy visit on PENRO-LGU Iloilo IPG to discuss a proposal for the establishment of a Center for Mangrove and Marine Biodiversity Conservation and a Center for Watershed and Ecological Studies.
The centers would serve as hubs for research, education, and community outreach, focusing on addressing pressing environmental challenges affecting the local ecosystems.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding of the next steps, including site identification, assessment, and evaluation.
This partnership is expected to not only enhance CPU's academic programs but also contribute to the province's environmental conservation efforts, ultimately benefiting the local communities and ecosystems.
