๐ง๐๐ก๐๐๐๐๐ก, ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ฆ, ๐๐๐ข๐๐๐ข | ๐๐๐ป๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฑ, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ โ The OPDRRMO, headed by PCol Cornelio R Salinas (Ret), ย participated in the BAKHAWANihan Project, an environmental initiative spearheaded by the Municipal Government of Carles under the leadership of Hon. Arnold T. Betita II, through the MDRRMO headed by Bopeep G. Jacar and MENRO led by Honey Lou B. Talidano, MENRO Designate.
The activity gathered government agencies, partner organizations, and community volunteers in a collective effort to strengthen coastal resilience through mangrove rehabilitation.
The program featured simultaneous environmental education activities, including EcoTalk: Voices for a Greener Futureby the MENRO and MAO; IsTOURya sa Isla: Young Eco-Explorers by BookNook Carles and Little SEA(tizines); and EcoRhythm Kids: Sing and Dance for Nature by Kapawa Performing Arts and Kuerdas Rondalla.
The event culminated in a mangrove planting activity along the coastal area of Barangay Tingiban.
OPDRRMO Iloilo remains committed to supporting initiatives that integrate environmental conservation with disaster risk reduction, recognizing the vital role of mangrove ecosystems in protecting coastal communities from storm surges, coastal erosion, and the impacts of climate change.
