The Iloilo Provincial Government, through Fourth District Board Member Rolando Distura and the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office - Energy Efficiency and Conservation Desk (PGENRO-EEC Desk), warmly welcomed the Bohol Association of Non-Government Organization, Inc. (BANGON) as a part of their Renewable Energy Learning Visit in the Province of Iloilo from October 22-26, 2024.
A forum was held at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall on the morning of October 23 presided by Iloilo’s energy champion, BM Distura. Among the participants were representatives of BANGON members, Bohol Renewable Energy Board, and the Provincial Engineer’s Office of Bohol.
BM Distura gave his discussion on his authored ordinances - the Iloilo Provincial Ordinance for Renewable Energy (I-PORE) and the Iloilo Local Energy Code (I-LECODE) - highlighting the importance of legislative support to effectively implement RE and EEC initiatives in the province of Iloilo.
Rey Victor P. Garin, EEC focal, presented the province’s implementation of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP). Iloilo has been in the forefront of localizing its GEMP best practices as it continues its efforts for a cleaner and energy sufficient province of Iloilo.
This activity created opportunities for Iloilo to further inspire other LGUs with its commitment in advocating for renewable energy and energy efficiency and conservation programs. (PGENRO-EEC Desk)
