ILOILO UTILITIES RESTORE POWER

The three distribution utilities in the Province of Iloilo have already restored power in their respective service areas.

The Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO) I have fully energized its franchise area in southern and south-central Iloilo as of 12:30 am today, 30 April 2023.

ILECO II and ILECO III, for their part, reported having restored power in central and northern Iloilo as of 3 am and 2:06 am, respectively.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. and Uswag Ilonggo Rep. Jojo Ang expressed their gratitude to power industry players for complying with their commitments to fully energize the province by noon today.

Defensor and Ang virtually met with representatives of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) on Saturday.

It was also attended by representatives of various distribution utilities and city and municipal mayors.

During the said meeting, the series of power outages experienced by Panay and Guimaras was explained and strategies to address the problem were crafted.

Both Defensor and Ang called on the NGCP, DOE and ERC to fast-track the repair, rehabilitation and improvement of the country’s transmission infrastructure, especially the Visayas grid.

They also vowed to continuously push for the development of the grid to the ideal level that will cater to the MoRProGRes program of the Province of Iloilo.

MoRProGRes, which stands for “Movement for a Robust, Progressive and Globally Competitive and Resilient Province of Iloilo,” aims to serve as a vehicle for achieving social justice.
