Municipal officials of Batad, Iloilo, led by Mayor Elvira Alarcon, together with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6 Regional Executive Director Raul Lorilla, representatives from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region 6, concerned provincial government offices, and other stakeholders convened for a consultative meeting on the proposed Alapasco Integrated Area Development Plan.
Barangay Alapasco, home to the Alapasco Small River Impounding Project (ASRIP) commonly known as Alapasco Lake, is emerging as a popular tourism destination in Batad.
To harness its potential, the municipality is seeking the support of DENR, NIA, and the Iloilo Provincial Government in promoting the area as an eco-tourism destination, while ensuring that environmental protection and sustainability remain at the forefront of development efforts.
