A total of 70 student interns from the University of San Agustin (USA) and the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) were recognized as population and development partners by the Provincial Population Office (PPO).
The activity, held at the Casa Real de Iloilo Grand Social Hall on June 15, 2026, brought together USA’s BS Psychology and ISAT-U’s BS Community Development students to honor their valuable contributions to the province's population and development programs and youth-centered initiatives.
Provincial Population Officer Atty. Ruel Von D. Superio emphasized the important role of young people in promoting people-centered and sustainable development.
Inspirational messages from Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul N. Banias, Dr. Shella Marcela Padilla-Villanueva, and Prof. Cherry Pink D. Barredo highlighted the demographic issues and concerns, human potential, and the value of strong partnerships and collaboration.
Student interns Ms. Xi Rose P. Saliente and Ms. Hezel Grace L. Belarde expressed their gratitude to their professors and mentors for preparing them for the professional world.
Project kaTUWAng, a partnership between the Iloilo Provincial Government and the University of San Agustin has strengthened youth development initiatives through peer helpers' training, school lectures, and psychosocial support services.
