IPG STRENGTHENS SUPPORT FOR ANILAO EDUCATION DRIVE

The Iloilo Provincial Government has strengthened its support for Anilao’s efforts to address learning gaps and improve literacy outcomes, joining local education stakeholders in the municipality’s recent Education Summit.

Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias represented the IPG during the summit at Anilao Central Elementary School, where local officials, educators and partners assessed learning results and discussed interventions to improve student performance.

Vice Governor Nathalie Ann Debuque emphasized the need to confront learning data honestly, while Mayor Ma. Teresa “Matet” Debuque presented the municipality’s education situation and outlined steps toward improving literacy.

Anilao also expressed readiness to adopt the BES BASA/Proof of Concept (POC) Localization Program, and to join the 27 local government units implementing the evidence-based literacy initiative.

The province through its education initiatives continues to work with DepEd and the Synergeia Foundation in helping LGUs strengthen basic education.

"We have the evidence and the proof that our BES BASA / POC Localization program improves literacy outcomes. Together, we will turn these challenges into stories of triumph for our young Ilonggo learners," said Dr. Banias.

The summit was followed by targeted training for Key Stage 1 teachers on foundational literacy and numeracy, child development, assessment and learner interventions.

Synergeia Foundation Founding Chairperson Dr. Milwida "Nene" Guevara also visited Anilao to support local efforts to improve education outcomes.
