A total of 59 repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) received financial assistance from the Iloilo Provincial Government under its Financial Assistance to Repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (FAR-OFW) program.
44 repatriated OFWs were each granted P10,000 on yesterday, followed by another 15 beneficiaries who received the same amount today.
The repatriated OFWs experienced job displacement due to political unrest, civil war, or natural calamities in host countries, as well as those who returned because of maltreatment by foreign employers or sickness and work-related accidents that made continued employment overseas impossible.
The assistance was facilitated by PESO - Province of Iloilo which continues to serve as the frontline office for employment facilitation, livelihood referrals, and reintegration support for returning migrant workers.
The cash assistance is designed to provide immediate relief to repatriated OFWs as they address urgent needs, pursue local employment, or explore livelihood opportunities in their home communities.
