Young local talents and culture advocates took center stage as the Inter-Municipal Folk Dance Contest energized this year’s celebration of Semana sang Iloilo.
The Municipality of Tigbauan emerged champion in the competition held as part of the 125th Semana sang Iloilo celebration, under the theme “Iloilo @ 125: Pagsaulog sang Padayon nga Kauswagan, Kapag-un kag Kadalag-an.”
Tigbauan’s performance of “Beneracion” bested entries from competing municipalities. The Municipality of Alimodian placed second with “Binasuan,”, while the Municipality of San Joaquin secured third place with its rendition of “Beneracion,”.
The Municipality of Anilao finished fourth with “Saot Halad kay Sta. Rita,” an original performance rooted in local tradition, while the Municipality of Oton placed fifth with “Malagueña,”.
The event not only highlights traditional reinforces Iloilo’s tourism campaign, “Fun Foodie Friendly Iloilo,” encouraging visitors to explore the province’s culture, food, and destinations.
