Ilonggos can now explore their family history, discover their ancestors, and connect with relatives across generations.
This as the Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives officially became an affiliate of FamilySearch which is a free, world-renowned genealogy platform.
The launching was held on April 6, 2026 as one of the activities of the 125th Semana sang Iloilo celebration.
As a FamilySearch Affiliate Library, the provincial library now offers exclusive access to additional records and resources that you can’t view from home. This means deeper research, richer discoveries, and more opportunities to uncover your heritage.
The ceremonial ribbon-cutting was led by Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque, Provincial Information Officer Jose Nereo Lujan who is also Iloilo’s Resident Historian, and Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives chief Allana Delgado.
FamilySearch Field Relations Manager Felvir Dieta Ordinario served as guest speaker.
“The affiliation positions the Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives as a key center for genealogical research and historical documentation in the province, benefiting researchers, students, and families seeking to trace their roots. As a 'heavy user' of FamilySearch, I am particularly pleased to see this development. It will greatly benefit those who wish to reconnect with their roots and deepen their understanding of family and local history,” Lujan said.
