Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. joined the celebration of the 127th anniversary of the Cry of Santa Barbara today, November 17, 2025 at the Flag Pole Park.
Defensor also led the wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of Ilonggo revolutionary hero General Martin T. Delgado.
The Cry of Santa Barbara symbolizes the Ilonggos’ pivotal role in achieving independence against the Spanish rule, marked by the inauguration of the Revolutionary Government of the Visayas on November 17, 1898. It also commemorates the first time the Philippine flag was raised outside Luzon.
