As 2025 draws to a close, the province of Iloilo is ending the year on a high note by inaugurating its first-ever completed Family and Youth Development Center (FYDC) which is a dedicated facility to strengthen families and the young people.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the inauguration of the two-storey facility worth P5 million in the municipality of Igbaras on December 22, 2025.
Provincial Population Office chief Atty. Ruel Von Superio said the FYDC is an innovative and strategic approach to the implementation of the Responsible Parenthood and the Adolescent Health and Youth Development Programs of the Province of Iloilo.
“Ini nga pasilidad isa ka tikang agud iga-establisar naton ang isa ka permanente nga istraktura agudto masuportahan sang tayuyon ang mga population and development programs, projects and activities for the families and the youth of the local government units, especially here in the municipal government of Igbaras,” Atty. Superio said.
Twelve additional FYDCs are currently being built province-wide, as part of Defensor’s commitment of empowering families and the youth as the foundation of a resilient and progressive society.
The other recipient towns are Santa Barbara, Calinog, Passi City, Sara, Banate, Batad, Lemery, Badiangan, Estancia, Lambunao, San Dionisio, and New Lucena.
Meanwhile, the event coincided with the birthday of Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque who decided to spend her special day with the Igbarasnons.
