Five employees of the Iloilo Provincial Government presented to Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias their award as Best Action Plan developers during the Eco-Cultural Training for Local Activation organized by the International Urban Training Center (IUTC) in partnership with UN-Habitat on September 24 to October 3, 1024 at Gangwon State, South Korea.
The Iloilo team represented the Philippines during the 10-day training that gathered public officers and experts from six Asian countries including Bangladesh, Mongolia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan to craft plans and solutions in implementing eco-cultural tourism and achieving sustainable development.
The team is composed of Atty. Arturo C. Cangrejo, Provincial Government Assistant Department Head of the Provincial Cooperative and Development Office; Ma. Krista S. Heberola, EnP, Planning Officer II of the Provincial Planning and Development Office; Jemar Harold G. Jison, Population Program Officer I of the Provincial Population Office; Louine Hope U. Conserva, Community Affairs III of the Public Information and Community Affairs Office; and Ma. Celerina Marmel M. Caldera, Administrative Officer V/Executive Assistant of the Human Resource Management and Development Office/Office of the Governor.
The Iloilo team crafted a comprehensive action plan entitled, βMoRProGRes ILOILO, More in Carlesβ to promote sustainable tourism in Northern Iloilo which serves as the resort destination in the province. Their proposal was recognized for integrating social, economic, and environmental approaches in preserving the sustainability of tourism in Northern Iloilo, particularly in Gigantes Island.
