Ajuy and Concepcion, Iloilo — The Provincial Government of Iloilo, in partnership with Angat Buhay, formally turned over greenhouse facilities in the Municipality of Ajuy and Barangay Tambaliza, Concepcion to support local feeding programs for malnourished children.
The greenhouses were funded by Angat Buhay, while Harbest served as the supplier and installer of the greenhouse facilities.
Vegetables produced in the greenhouses will be used to augment the feeding programs of the beneficiary communities, particularly targeting children who are undernourished during their critical developmental years.
The initiative aims to provide a sustainable and reliable source of fresh vegetables to improve child nutrition and food security.
The greenhouses in Ajuy and Tambaliza are part of the four greenhouse facilities funded by Angat Buhay and installed in the municipalities of Carles, Cabatuan, Concepcion, and Ajuy.
This initiative is aligned with Executive Order No. 40, “Sipag at Tiyaga,” of the Province of Iloilo, which promotes sustainable agriculture, food sufficiency, and nutrition programs.
The greenhouse program was conceptualized following the Hunger Summit held in Iloilo on August 6, 2024, which emphasized the need for collaborative and long-term solutions to hunger and malnutrition.
Through this multi-sector partnership, the Provincial Government of Iloilo, Angat Buhay, and Harbest reaffirm their shared commitment to improving child nutrition and building resilient communities through sustainable food production.
