Atty. Deo Virgil Tan, National Telecommunications Commission VI Legal Officer reminded the barangay information officers to be mindful when sharing information online and to safeguard their personal data against scammers.
“Verify and confirm first before giving out information. It is important that we protect not only our data but those of our friends and relatives,” Tan emphasized during the Cybersecurity Awareness Training for Barangay Information Officers today at District 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.
This activity, spearheaded by the Public Information and Community Affairs Office in collaboration with the Philippine Information Agency Iloilo Information Center, aims to boost digital literacy among grassroots communicators.
During the session, Atty. Tan also reiterated NTC’s strict regulations on the operation of Piso Wi-Fi businesses.
He also reminded the public that the NTC will shutdown all 3G and 2G mobile network services nationwide by December 31, 2026 as the country transitions to more advanced network technologies.
