Representatives from a state university, a church ministry, and a non-government organization paid a courtesy visit to Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. to discuss the development of a Social Media Literacy Module as part of the Province of Iloilo's PRIME TIME program.
The visitors included Dr. Jeanette Simpas, RGC, of the Care Counseling Ministry of Jaro Cathedral; Dr. Shiela Mae C. Quero, Chair of the Broadcasting Division of the College of Communication, West Visayas State University; and Prof. Ma. Rosario Victoria De Guzman, Socio-Civic Coordinator of the Tawili Foundation for Social and Educational Development. They were joined by First Lady Michelle Defensor.
During the meeting, Governor Defensor shared the goals of the PRIME TIME program and discussed areas where the partner organizations could provide support in its implementation. The proposed Social Media Literacy Module aims to help learners identify and respond to fake news, pornography, and bullying while promoting responsible social media use through school-based counseling and education.
