
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. joined First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos and DILG Undersecretary for Peace and Order Jon Paulo Salvahan during the distribution of the assistance under the Comprehensive Social Benefits Program (CSBP) to the families of soldiers and police who have died or were wounded in the line of duty.
The “PBBM: Pagpupugay para sa mga Bayani ng Bansang Makabayan” was held on November 20, 2024 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.
In his welcome message, Governor Defensor recognized the bravery and heroism of our soldiers and cops who devoted their lives in maintaining peace and order in the country.
“This gathering is a profound reminder of the courage, resilience and unwavering patriotism of our uniformed personnel who have been wounded or have given their lives in the line of duty. Their sacrifices are etched in the heart of every Filipino who enjoys the peace and security they fought to uphold,” he said.
The governor also stressed the “strength and sacrifices of their families who have stood steadfast behind them.”
Defensor also acknowledged the presence of First Lady Marcos who made the event more meaningful.
“Your presence here today reflects the nation’s heartfelt gratitude to our heroes and their families, a powerful gesture of reassurance that their sacrifices are not forgotten and that the government stands with them every step of the way,” the Iloilo governor said.
The CSBP is being implemented by the Department of the Interior and Local Government Under and its partner national government agencies.
CSBP's offerings include financial assistance, employment, scholarship, shelter assistance, 4Ps enrollment, rice subsidy, PHILHEALTH comprehensive coverage, and medical assistance.
More than 300 beneficiaries from Regions VI, VII, VII, II, V, X, and XII received the assistance.
There are 71 beneficiaries from the Province of Iloilo ranging from personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Philippine Coast Guard.
