The Iloilo Provincial Government, through its Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, is taking meaningful steps to empower fathers in their vital roles within the family and the community ahead of Father’s Day Celebration on June 15.
This was demonstrated during the recent Gender Sensitivity Training for Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities (ERPAT)-Oton Chapter held on May 30, 2025, at Damires Hills Tierra Verde and Leisure Farm in Janiuay, Iloilo.
Attended by barangay leaders of the ERPAT-Oton Chapter, the training focused on developing a deeper understanding of Gender Concepts, Gender Issues, and Gender and Development (GAD). It aimed to enhance the knowledge, values, and attitudes of fathers as they fulfill their responsibilities as husbands, fathers, and leaders in their communities.
Through this initiative, the Iloilo Provincial Government reinforces its mission under the MoRProGRes Iloilo agenda to promote gender equity, shared responsibility, and empowered leadership among men.
The ERPAT-Oton Chapter specifically requested the Iloilo Provincial GAD Technical Working Group (PGAD-TWG) to lead this activity in support of their efforts to deepen awareness on the Magna Carta of Women and the evolving roles of men in building a just and gender-fair society.
By investing in the transformation of fathers into gender-responsive partners, the province aims to strengthen the foundation of families and communities where respect, collaboration, and care are lived out daily.
