The community outreach program of the Public Information and Community Affairs Office (PICAO), “Hinun-anon sa Barangay”, was held in Barangay Lawigan, San Joaquin on August 20, 2026.
The activity, conducted at the covered gym of Barangay Lawigan, gathered not only the officials and residents of the host barangay but also participants from neighboring Barangays Igcadlum and Sinogbuhan.
PICAO brought in speakers from the Provincial Agriculture Office, Provincial Engineer’s Office, and Provincial Health Office to present the services available to the public. The Provincial Health Office also distributed iodized salt and multivitamins to children, while the Iloilo Sports Development and Management Office (ISDMO) turned over two basketballs to each participating barangay.
PICAO expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Punong Barangays Joaquin Ervin Taculin, Gilbert Guilan, and Edgardo Napatal for their warm welcome and cooperation.
San Joaquin Mayor Joe Abad Lazaro likewise showed his support by sending a representative to grace the occasion.
“Hinun-anon sa Barangay” forms part of Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr.’s social justice agenda, a program designed to bring the provincial government closer to the people.
