Access to vital family and youth services is set to improve in five municipalities after the Iloilo Provincial Government released P25 million for the establishment of Family and Youth Development Centers (FYDCs).
Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. led the turnover of P5 million each to the local governments of Oton, Leon, San Miguel, Bingawan, and Carles through the Iloilo Provincial Population Office.
The funding will jumpstart the construction of two-storey facilities designed to centralize services for families, adolescents, and young people.
Once completed, the FYDCs will serve as accessible hubs for pre-marriage orientation and counseling, youth trainings, and population development initiatives.
The centers will also house offices for local population workers, Sangguniang Kabataan, and youth development councils.
Defensor said the project goes beyond infrastructure, positioning the centers as frontline spaces for addressing mental health concerns and strengthening responsible parenthood and adolescent health programs under the province’s MoRProGRes agenda.
A pre-construction conference was also held to guide LGUs on implementation, ensuring timely delivery of facilities.
