An important milestone for the welfare of the people was reached on July 16, 2025, as new water system projects were formally opened in Barangay Cawayanan and Barangay San Fernando, Miag-ao.
The ceremony was led on behalf of Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. by Miag-ao Vice Mayor Hon. Salve Napud-Pechayco. She was accompanied by Sangguniang Bayan Members Richard Esposo and Jessica Torrecampo, committed staff from the Iloilo Provincial Engineer's Office, and other distinguished barangay officials.
These essential water system undertakings are a big investment on public health and progress - P428,008.85 for Barangay Cawayanan benefiting 86 households; and P1,731,685.15 for Barangay San Fernando for 111 households.
During her speech, Vice Mayor Pechayco emphasized the deep significance of water as a basic need, essential to health and overall well-being of communities and families. She expressed sincere thanks for the crucial cooperation and support of past and current barangay leaders, together with the community-based Barangay San Fernando Water System Association.
The officers of the Association were officially introduced and swore in to their oath of allegiance led by SB Esposo on behalf of Governor Defensor.

She expressed deep gratitude for the undertaking, thanking Governor Defensor, the PEO staff, municipal and barangay officials, and the kind landowners and donors whose sacrifices made this essential project possible.

He reiterated that the Provincial and Municipal Governments conduct projects with genuine commitment to community welfare, which are worth full and positive support from the people.
The inauguration was also attended by officials of the Office of the Mayor, the school principal and teachers of San Fernando Elementary School, and barangay representatives of Barangay Cubay and Barangay Igdalaquit, showing the wide extent of community support for these projects.
