The Iloilo Provincial Government met with the officials from the municipality of Concepcion and the barangay leaders from Pan de Azucar to finalize the framework in developing the island as a premier eco-tourism destination.
This initiative is part of the Turista sa Barangay program of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. which aims to position the barangays as point of care for tourism activities in the province.
Pan De Azucar encompasses Barangays Talo-toan, Tambaliza, and Macatunao.
It boasts impressive natural attractions, from the soaring peak of Mt. Manaphag and the rugged Lumpatan Rock Formation to its pristine beaches.
To support this vision, Provincial Administrator and former Concepcion Mayor Raul Banias outlined various provincial infrastructure projects for Pan de Azucar Island, including the construction of the Concepcion Food Hub and the establishment of a mangrove ecopark.
Additional priorities include designing curated tourism circuits, upgrading local sites, and installing a reliable water supply system, all to ensure a premium experience for visitors.
Moreover, Banias sought the commitment of the municipal and barangay leaders in ensuring the success of the Turista sa Barangay Program.
