CAPITOL JUDICIARY EYE DUMANGAS SITE FOR NEW RTC HALL OF JUSTICE

The judiciary and the Iloilo Provincial Government explored potential sites in Dumangas for the construction of a new Hall of Justice that will house the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 6–Family Court, RTC Branch 68, and the Municipal Trial Court.

Judge Jennie Ann Logronio, Regional Court Manager for Judicial Region 6, met with Fourth District Board Member Rolando Distura and Provincial Legal Officer Dennis Ventilacion to discuss the proposed judicial complex, which is expected to improve court operations and provide a more accessible and conducive venue for the delivery of justice.

Among the sites being considered are a property in Barangay Tabucan and a parcel of land owned by the Don Bosco Boys' Home and Training Center in Dumangas. Further evaluation will determine the most suitable location for the project.

The proposed Hall of Justice forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen judicial infrastructure in Iloilo, ensuring that court services remain efficient, accessible, and responsive to the needs of litigants, legal practitioners, law enforcement agencies, and the public.

The provincial government commits to supporting the judiciary's infrastructure requirements.

Last year, Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. expressed the province's willingness to help secure suitable sites for new judicial facilities, including offering provincial properties for consideration following structural concerns at the Chief Justice Ramon Q. Avanceña Hall of Justice in Iloilo City. The provincial government also temporarily accommodated several justice sector offices in its facilities to ensure uninterrupted public service.
