PCAT VAWC HOLDS ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN IN SCHOOL TO RAISE AWARENESS

The Provincial Council Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (PCAT-VAWC) conducted an orientation at Ardemil National High School on August 2, 2024, to educate school officials and learners as well as parents and barangay leaders of the community about pertinent provisions of RA 9208 known as Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act and RA 11930, a penal law seeking to punish the online sexual abuse or exploitation of children.

The PCAT-VAWC of the Province of Iloilo chaired by Governor Arthur R. Defensor Jr. and Vice Governor Christine S. GARIN as its Vice-Chairperson has made a good partnership with Ardemil National High School in Sara, headed by Dr. Richard T. Arquintillo, in bringing sound information to stakeholders aiming to raise awareness among members of the community, strengthen local structures to collaboratively address the problems of trafficking in persons and empower our people in the fight against online sexual abuse and child exploitation and ensure their protection.

The activity was attended by representatives from various agencies such as the Department of Justice, Commission on Human Rights, Public Employment Service Office, KALIPI, BIDLISIW Foundation, Inc., Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, OFW Organization, Department of Education, Department of Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Health Office, CAMELEON Association, Inc., Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, among others.

Sara Mayor Jon Aying gave his message during the event with the full support of Sangguniang Bayan Members led by Vice Mayor Ryan Zerrudo.
