Fathers in Estancia, Iloilo gained practical skills on responsible parenting, mental health, and disaster preparedness through the launch of the Food-for-Training (FFT) Program, while also receiving Ready-to-Eat Food (RTEF) packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI.
The program, implemented by the LGU Estancia in partnership with the PSWDO Province Of Iloilo and DSWD Field Office VI, brought together ERPAT (Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities) members for training aimed at strengthening their roles as fathers and community partners in building resilient families.
The DSWD's Food-for-Training Program is a short-term rehabilitation and social protection intervention that provides fortified rice and other essential food commodities in exchange for beneficiaries' participation in capacity-building seminars and skills training.
Rather than providing unconditional assistance, the program requires participants to render "sweat equity" by completing learning sessions that enhance their knowledge and employability. It also targets vulnerable sectors, including disaster-affected families, indigenous communities, and marginalized groups seeking sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The kick-off activity also marked the start of a province-wide rollout of the FFT Program in selected Iloilo municipalities.
