CARLES STRENGTHENS RABIES FREE STATUS WITH ISLAND WIDE AWARENESS AND VETERINARY SERVICES

The Municipality of Carles, in collaboration with the Iloilo Provincial Government through the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian-Iloilo, recently concluded a series of Rabies Awareness Month celebrations, reaching out to island communities of Binuluangan and Gigantes Islands to promote responsible pet ownership and provide essential veterinary services.

The initiatives focused on educating residents about rabies prevention, proper animal care, and the importance of regular pet vaccinations.

Veterinary experts from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian-Iloilo shared valuable insights and provided free neutering services to control the stray animal population.

A dedicated surgical team composed of veterinarians from Iloilo, Aklan, Guimaras, and Iloilo City performed the neutering services, reinforcing the islands’ rabies-free status.

As part of the celebration, elementary learners from Sitio Naburot, showcased their talents through a TikTok dance contest and a mural contest, creatively echoing the theme of rabies awareness and prevention.

By bringing these services directly to remote island communities, the Iloilo Provincial Government is helping to create a safer and healthier environment for all.
