The Iloilo Provincial Government recently conducted an in-depth review of Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Plans from the municipalities of Janiuay, Badiangan, Cabatuan, San Joaquin, Lambunao, and Calinog.
This initiative supports Governor Arthur "Toto" Defensor Jr.'s vision of a resilient Iloilo, emphasizing climate governance and disaster preparedness across the province.
Led by PDRRMO-Iloilo chief Cornelio Salinas, the Provincial Review Team included experts from the Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Office, Iloilo Provincial Planning and Development Office, Iloilo Provincial Engineer's Office, PSWDO Province Of Iloilo, PENRO-LGU Iloilo IPG, Department of Science and Technology - Iloilo, and the Provincial Police Office, ensuring a comprehensive approach to reviewing and enhancing each locality’s disaster readiness.
The review aimed to bolster municipal-level response capabilities and refine disaster management plans with insights from diverse provincial departments.
According to Calinog Mayor Francisco Calvo, who hosted the Review, this collaborative effort underscores Calinog’s commitment to provincial resilience initiatives and equips municipalities to address climate-related challenges.
