The Province of Iloilo through the Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology (CREST), and the Center for Empowerment, iNnovation and Training on Renewable Energy or CentRE, successfully convened key stakeholders for the Iloilo Dialogue on Circularity in Renewable Energy.
Iloilo as the rising RE hub in the Philippines, now sets an important collaboration to integrating circularity principles into renewable energy planning, specifically with material lifecycle management. This foresees the socio-economic and environmental impacts of the end-of-lifespans of RE.
The discussion was led by Engr. Rei Panaligan, President of CREST, Maris Cardenas, Executive Director of CentRE, Engr. Job Jacob Gonzales, CREST trustee, and Rey Victor P. Garin- OIC-Head EEC Desk. Also present to show their support were PA Raul N. Banias, and Hon. Rolando B. Distura.
Deep-dive sessions included LGUs, academe, private sectors, NGOs, and distribution utilities addressing the current state of renewable energy adoption in Panay, particularly in the city and; province of Iloilo; identify gaps and challenges in RE disposal; and exchange circular strategies and best practices within the renewable energy sector.
