The members of the 15th Sangguniang Panalalawigan of the Province of Iloilo and the Lanao Del Sur Sangguniang Panlalawigan Energy Committee, through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency: Access to Climate Security and Health Services (RE3ACHS) Project, shared significant insights on energy policies & projects implementation over a dinner meeting last Feb. 9, 2026 at the Park Inn by Raddison Hotel Iloilo.
Board Member Rolando Distura, chairperson of the newly-created Committee on Energy and Energy Efficiency and Conservation Desk OIC- Head Rey Victor Garin lead the conversation by presenting IPG’s legislative framework, and accomplishments on the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP).
The dialogue centered on effective policy development, especially Iloilo Province’s hallmark legislations, the I-PORE (Iloilo Provincial Ordinance on Renewable Energy), I-SIMPLE (Iloilo Simplified Issuance of Permits and Clearances for Local Energy Infrastructure Projects), I-SHARE (Iloilo Schools Having Access to Renewable Energy) and the ILECODE (Iloilo Energy Code).
LDS legislators eye the following IPG’s ordinances for adoption, and this exchange have provided an opportunity to develop committed approaches to integrate reliable and cleaner energy while also addressing challenges on implementation, and other key insights.
