2025 RENEWABLE ENERGY CONGRESS AND EXHIBIT DAY 1

The province of Iloilo is positioning itself as a leader in renewable energy as it hosted the 8th Renewable Energy Congress and Exhibit from December 11 to 12, 2025 at the Iloilo Convention Center.

The event was held in partnership with the Center for Empowerment, Innovation, and Training on Renewable Energy (CentRE), Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities, and Central Philippine University.

It was graced by Department of Energy Secretary Sharon Garin; Her Excellency Vladislava Iordanova, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Manila; Mr. Lloyd Cameron, Economic and Climate Counsellor of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Manila; Kairos Dela Cruz, ICSC Executive Director; Engr. Erel Narida of the Renewable Energy Association of the Philippines; and Iloilo Fourth District Board Member Rolando Distura, vice chairperson for the SP Committee on Environment and Natural Resources.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias delivered the welcome message on behalf of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.

One of the highlights of the event is the launching of the Iloilo Declaration for 5R 4 JET: Renewable, Resilience, Reliability, Resource Efficiency, and Responsibility for a Just Energy Transition.

The Iloilo Declaration spotlights the five key agenda areas to accelerate transition towards renewable energy.

The province of Iloilo has emerged as a model for renewable energy project implementation. In fact, Iloilo is a pioneer awardee of the Sustainable Energy Awards for the Local Government Unit category of the Department of Energy.

The Congress convened at least 200 leaders and changemakers from the local government units, energy industry, financial institutions, and the youth sector, among others to push for a shift towards renewable energy and to promote energy sufficiency.
