ILOILO SCHOOL BOARD MAPS OUT 2027 EDUCATION PRIORITIES

The Provincial School Board (PSB) has begun laying the groundwork for its 2027 education agenda, bringing together local government officials, education leaders, and key stakeholders to align priorities and craft a responsive Special Education Fund (SEF) budget during its 6th Provincial School Board Meeting and Mid-Year Updating and Planning Technical Session.

The meeting reviewed the province's education targets alongside the Schools Division of Iloilo's priorities before identifying key programs that will improve learner outcomes.

Among the priority areas discussed were literacy and numeracy, teacher capacity development, school infrastructure, learning resources and technology, sports development, and inclusive education, in line with the Department of Education's strategic directions.

A major highlight of the technical session was the preparation of the CY 2027 SEF budget, where participants reviewed eligible expenditures, funding requirements, and resource allocation to ensure education investments address the province's most pressing needs.

Sectoral workshops were also held to identify the top three education challenges faced by local chief executives, legislators, DepEd officials, teachers, non-teaching personnel, parents, youth representatives, and finance officers.

The consolidated proposals will serve as the framework for the 2027 SEF budget, with the Provincial School Board expected to deliberate on priority programs, approve the funding framework, and set the timeline for budget finalization.
