Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, representing Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., delivered a message of support at the 11th International Conference on Teacher Education, held at the Iloilo Convention Center.
The message emphasized Iloilo’s commitment to educational reform, particularly in enhancing literacy and numeracy among young learners.
"Governor Defensor views education as a personal responsibility," Banias shared, noting that while education is a national mandate, the province has stepped up to address local challenges.
Following an Education Summit two years ago that highlighted gaps in basic literacy, the Governor Defensor has led initiatives like the “Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya” (BES Basa) reading program.
Banias also emphasized the importance of adapting to new technologies, such as Generative AI and ChatGPT.
“It is crucial that our educators are trained to leverage these innovations effectively, enhancing their teaching methodologies and enriching student engagement,” Banias stated.
In closing, the administrator affirmed Iloilo’s commitment to supporting teacher education reforms.
"Together, we can shape a brighter educational future for generations to come," he said.
