The Public Information and Community Affairs Office, in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency-Iloilo, hosted the 2nd quarter meeting of the Iloilo-Guimaras Information Officers Association (IGIOA) on June 18, 2025 at the National Museum of the Philippines – Iloilo.
The meeting featured speakers from NMP Iloilo who shared their expertise on heritage awareness and cultural preservation.
NMP Iloilo Officer-in-Charge and Information Officer Mayin De Los Santos underscored the crucial role of effective communication in instilling cultural consciousness and sensitivity in the community.
De Los Santos also appealed to the LGU-based information officers to use their role in promoting museum visits to widen public understanding of our local tradition and history.
“The intense challenge for us is to promote our tradition. You are our bridge in bringing our community to the National Museum,” De Los Santos said.
PICAO chief Jose Nereo Lujan proposed a collaboration between PICAO’s grassroots information campaign “Hinun-anon sa Barangay” and NMP Iloilo’s "Pambansang Museo sa Barangay" to further strengthen cultural awareness in the grassroots level.
