CAPITOL GIVES AID TO KIN OF CULTURAL ICON FEDERICO CABALLERO

The Iloilo Provincial Government extended financial assistance of P30,000 to the family of the late Manlilikha ng Bayan (National Living Treasure) Federico Caballero.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, on behalf of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., turned over the assistance to his daughter, Rowena Caballero-Rafil. He was joined by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office staff Marice Andrea Bedonia and Provincial Administrator staff Alain Russ Dimzon.

Caballero passed away on August 17, 2024, at the age of 88. He was given a state funeral on September 3 in Calinog, Iloilo.

He was a renowned Ilonggo cultural bearer of the Panay Bukidnon indigenous people and preserved the "Sugidanon," the epic tales of Central Panay.

Furthermore, Banias also presented to Rafil the proposed School of Living Tradition to be established at Fernandez Perez Memorial National High School at Brgy. Datagan, Calinog, Iloilo.
