Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias welcomed Ms. Amena Arif, Country Manager for the Philippines of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private-sector arm of the World Bank, during her courtesy call this afternoon. She was accompanied by former Iloilo City Councilor and now Senior Officer of BDO Network Bank, Nielex Tupas.
Their discussion centered on continuing collaborations, particularly in projects involving public transportation and housing. The governor cited the various Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP) projects in the province. PRDP is financed by the World Bank.
Governor Defensor also presented to Ms. Arif the provincial government’s socialized housing project in Barangay Nangka, Batad, Iloilo, which he emphasized is being promoted for partnerships with various sectors to expand similar initiatives across the province.
