The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) briefed Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. on the status of PAMANA livelihood projects in Iloilo.
PAMANA, or “PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn,” is a government program that supports community-based enterprises in poor, vulnerable, and conflict-affected areas by providing livelihood assistance, basic services, and capacity-building support, helping families and organized groups develop sustainable income sources and strengthen their resilience.
Under the program, 19 of 44 livelihood associations in the province are now sustaining their projects after receiving seed capital and assistance. In total, 35 regular projects and 22 Community Peace Dividend projects remain operational.
Nine more associations are currently being prepared for funding, each eligible for Php300,000 in seed capital once requirements are completed.
Five other groups organized with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) and the Philippine Army are also being developed under peacebuilding efforts.
PAMANA livelihoods in Iloilo are mostly small group businesses like farming, livestock raising, food production, and community stores.
