Eleven employees of the Iloilo provincial government received their awards as regional winners of the 2023 Search for Outstanding Government Workers conferred by the Civil Service Commission VI during the Pasidungog 2023 on September 21 at the District 21 Hotel.
Jemar Harold G. Jison, Population Officer I of the Provincial Population Office was conferred with the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award.
Two teams from the Provincial Health Office won the CSC PAGASA Awards for the programs on Zero Open Defecation Movement of Iloilo Province and Comprehensive COVID-19 Response Towards a New Normal in the Province of Iloilo.
The ZOD team is composed of Marisil V. Cabuigin, Nurse I (Team Leader); Marilo P. Ogacion, Nurse I; Christian Harold Preche, Nurse I; Maeden E. Quinon, Nurse I; and Catherine Mae L. Rabara, Nurse I.
The COVID-19 team is comprised of Ma. Consolacion P. Ebrada, Nurse III (Team Leader); Lilian P. Balsicas, Nurse IV; Leni C. Disin, Nutritionist Dietician III; Jose Nelson C. Kuan, Dentist IV; and Christine Anne I. Yap-Yu, Nurse IV.
The Zero Open Defecation Movement of Iloilo Province was launched in 2015 to promote sound sanitation practices in the localities. The goal of the movement is to achieve 100 percent access to basic sanitation facilities and proper hygiene practices.
The provincial government allocated an annual budget of P5 million for the procurement of toilet bowls as incentives to barangays that reached ZOD status. Technical assistance was also provided to all municipalities and barangays to ensure the sustainability of the program.
The team has strategized the various monitoring tools to track the compliance of barangays.
The members of the PHO COVID-19 Team became primary service delivery providers for contract tracing, swabbing, isolation, treatment, and vaccination. Their efforts resulted in various programs and initiatives such as Nutrisyon Diary, COVID-19 Ligtas Center, Bakunahay sa Barangay, Ayuda sa A2, and Project NutriVacc.
Meanwhile, Jison, who is the population officer in Dueñas, initiated the creation of the local youth emergency response unit dubbed Youth DRIVE in the municipality. He also formulated the Locally Crafted Operations Manual and constitution and by-laws which were adopted by the Sanggunian Bayan resolution.
He materialized the establishment of the Youth Barangay Quick Response Units and trained the young people on Basic First Aid and Basic Life Support. One of his notable accomplishments is the establishment of the DOMINA Teen Center in Dueñas.
Iloilo Provincial Administrator Raul Banias served as the inspirational speaker. Banias was a Presidential Lingkod Bayan Awardee in 2006 during his stint as mayor of the municipality of Concepcion.
Human Resource Management and Development Office chief Atty. Renee Valencia, Provincial Health Office chief Dr. Maria Socorro Quiñon, Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Wendel Tupas-Marcelo, and Provincial Population Office head Atty. Ruel Von Superio accompanied the winners in receiving their awards.
