The Iloilo Provincial Government kicked off the Provincial Zero Waste Month Celebration with the awarding of the Top 5 offices in waste diversion this morning.
The offices successfully implemented the 4Bs (Basura isulod sa Basurahan, Bag, Bulsa kag Botelya) as waste diversion strategies to reduce and eliminate plastics and other trash in the waste stream.
The following are the top 5 offices that receive certificates of recognition and tokens from Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., Provincial Administrator Raul Banias and Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO) chief Atty. Cesar Emmanuel Buyco:
* Provincial Health Office with 1,382 kg of recyclable wastes
* Provincial Planning and Development Office with 620.5 kg of recyclable wastes
* Provincial Government Environment and Development Office with 533 kg of recyclable wastes
* JPA Iloilo (manpower agency) with 427 kg of recyclable wastes
* Provincial Engineers Office with 424 kg of recyclable wastes
The PGENRO has lined up a month-long series of exciting activities dedicated to advancing sustainable and inclusive solid waste management in the Province of Iloilo.
