LGSP-LED seminar on tourism

Resort owners, transport groups and other stakeholders from Northern Iloilo attend the seminar-workshop regarding value-chain analysis of tourism organized by the Local Governance Support Program for Local Economic Development (LGSP-LED) yesterday (Nov. 16). DINAGYANG Festival:  All About Iloilo, Rhythms, Costumes and Fun

Formerly known as Iloilo Ati-atihan, Dinagyang has its beginnings in 1969. It was only in 1977 when the term “Dinagyang” was used, to differentiate it from Kalibo’s Ati-atihan. Coined by the late Pacifico Sumagpao Sudario, an Ilonggo writer and radio broadcaster, Dinagyang is a very colorful presentation of honoring Iloilo’s patron Saint, the Child Jesus or popularly known as the Sto. Niño. Prayers and offerings are interpreted in dance forms noted for its fast body movements.

Iloilo has the biggest and most-prolonged cultural celebrations in the country. All year round, Iloilo is in permanent celebration as the diversity of festivals leave spectators in awe. These local cultural attractions do not only showcase the beauty of the different destinations but also fosters an understanding of our rich history and culture. Many of these festivals have become tourist attractions on their own.
