The Iloilo Provincial Government has partnered with the Philippine Crops Insurance Corporation (PCIC) to help farmers and fisherfolks affected by the El Niño phenomenon.

This morning, Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. with Provincial Agriculture Office head Dr. Ildefonso Toledo turned over a check worth PhP 15 million to PCIC, led by its president Atty. Jovy Bernabe, as initial funding for the project dubbed SIGURADO or Sustainable Insurance from the Government for Upscaling and Revitalizing the Agri-fisheries Developments and Opportunities.

Quality law education was made more accessible to the Visayas region as UP Law offered extension classes at UPV Iloilo City Campus since 2021.

Tiendas Ilonggas, which will run from March 4-8, 2024, is facilitated by the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions (LEDIP) Office together with Women MSMEs and Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI).

The Lenten exhibit will run until March 16. The historic municipality of Sta Barbara is the first venue of the exhibit outside of Iloilo City.

The Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Gender and Development (GAD) Council, kicks off the celebration of National Women’s Month with a Women’s Symposium on Climate Change Resiliency on March 5, 2024, at the Casa Real de Iloilo.

Visit the Tienda Ilonggas Exhibit from March 4 to 8 at the Capitol lobby which will feature products of women microentrepreneurs in the province.

In commemoration of International Women’s Day on March 8, there will be a women-led provincewide cleanup drive.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. turned over crucial disaster risk reduction and management equipment and supplies to seven municipalities that are also recipients of the operations hub and evacuation center projects of the Iloilo Provincial Government.

The operations hubs are located in Estancia, Carles, Concepcion, Banate, and Miagao coastal municipalities. Each received 2 units of aluminum ladder, 1 unit of laptop, 1 20-inch chainsaw and 1 36-inch chainsaw.

The municipalities of Mina and Tigbauan each received 50 collapsible tents.

Twenty-six municipalities received financial aid from the Iloilo Provincial Government for the purchase of equipment to upgrade their disaster risk response and management efforts.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. led the distribution of checks totalling P46 million today at the Casa Real de Iloilo. He was assisted by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Cornelio Salinas and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias.

The aid was received by the municipal mayors, municipal disaster risk reduction officers, and municipal treasurers.

The Iloilo Provincial Government has been exerting efforts to implement the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) as expressed under Republic Act No. 11285 otherwise known as the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, which is an act institutionalizing energy efficiency and conservation, enhancing the efficient use of energy, and granting incentives to EE&C Projects.

In his talk with the Ambassador, Gov. Defensor cited the historic relationship and partnership between China and the Philippines and its people.

The Chinese Ambassador is in Iloilo City for various activities together with the Filipino-Chinese community.
