Two delegates from the Iloilo Provincial Government were recognized by the International Urban Training Center (IUTC) for having the Best Action Plan Award during the Regional Development and Economic Activation (RDEA) Training in Gangwon Province, Republic of Korea.

Planning Officers Mae A. Abeja and Carr Brian J. Griño of the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) received the award for their outstanding presentation of an action plan focused on revitalizing economic opportunities for sustainable tourism in Northern Iloilo.

Iloilo Police Provincial Office Officer-in-Charge Col. Bayani M. Razalan paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. on April 23, 2024.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias joined the governor in welcoming the new IPPO head.

Governor Defensor presented to Razalan his “Limpyo Iloilo Kontra Dengue” program which is a province-wide cleanup drive to prevent the rise in the cases of dengue by destroying the breeding places of mosquitoes.

Ms. Sorensen will spend her time in Barotac Viejo as a volunteer to share her expertise in agri-tourism development.

Governor Defensor warmly welcomed Ms. Sorensen, expressing gratitude for her commitment to contributing to the community's growth.

Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. allocated Php 5 million to construct a climate-resilient classroom building at Abong Elementary School in Carles, Iloilo.

Consultation Meeting For Visayas Export Development

Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. convened with Visayas Container Terminal (VCT) Manager Mike Santos and officials from Iloilo City's Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions (LEDIP) led by Ms. Velma Jane Lao in a consultation meeting aimed to bolster export development in the region.

The meeting covered updates on VCT operations, economic performance, discussions on export data, backload optimization, and identification of potential exportable products unique to Iloilo.

The Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office, together with implementing partners Central Philippine University and USAID, through the Energy Knowledge and Empowerment for Western Visayas (EKEWV), conducted the Energy 101-1: Power Infrastructure in Panay and its Challenges lecture on April 22, 2024 at the Casa Real de Iloilo Grand Social Hall.

The event was the first out of the four Energy-101 lectures series and also coincided with the celebration of Earth Day 2024.

Mr. Hideaki Matsuo, Consul General of Japan in Cebu, pays a courtesy visit to Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias joined Gov. Defensor in welcoming the Japanese diplomat.

Mr. Matsuo said he is in Iloilo to promote friendly relations between his country and the Philippines.

Gov. Defensor thanked the Japanese government for its various projects through the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and also for its valuable assistance in times of disaster.
